It's Election Season

Tomorrow is voting day, and as you can imagine, that’s a pretty big deal to us here at the Utah Bee. I can’t overstate the importance of having your voice heard through your vote. This is how democracy works! The only way our country moves forward–from cities and counties to states and federal elections–is through our participation in voting. Though we applaud participation in any of the many ways to be involved in the political process, voting is the first, most fundamental step to involvement.

We might feel more adrenaline at a rally, and we might be more intellectually engaged writing an impassioned letter to our representative, and we might  feel more connected sharing and discussing a political article on social media, but those things are diminished if there isn’t a vote behind your rally attendance, letter writing or social media discussion.

And so, if I haven’t made myself clear: remember to vote. Vote, vote, vote!

If you are still looking for information about ballot items, here are a few things we have covered at the Bee this election season:

Read why a writer is voting YES on Question 1.

Read two opinions, PRO and CON regarding Prop 3.

Listen to a podcast of Question 1, and Propositions 2, 3, and 4. Three women discuss the items and let you know how they plan to vote on each.

And read ALL of the coverage of Prop 2 covered on the Bee. Start here and follow the links.

And if you've already voted and are looking for a break from politics, catch some of our highlights from the Bee last week:

What a small town musical taught us about inclusivity (and it doesn’t have anything to do with the plot).

How putting down our shovels might be the most important thing women can do.

Why enjoying your own company is the best dating advice.

Thanks for being a part of the Utah Bee community,
