Inspiring Words From Psychedelic Pioneers

by MADELINE FERGUSON

The days are short, the weather is cold and it honestly feels like we are in those days of winter when we are just trying to survive. Maybe this sounds familiar or maybe it doesn’t, but either way who couldn’t use a little positivity or inspiration in their lives?

It seems as though the world is finally coming around to the power of psychedelics and their ability to heal wounds once deemed permanent. This also means psychedelic pioneers and advocates are looked back on for their wisdom and outside-the-box thinking.

To give you a little mood lift, here are some wise, weird or thoughtful words from psychedelic leaders to get you thinking or provide some positive affirmation for your day.

“This is part of human nature, the desire to change consciousness.”

“Forgetting is vastly underrated as a mental operation.”

Alan Watts - Philosopher & Psychonaut

“We cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain.”

“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”

“One is a great deal less anxious if one feels perfectly free to be anxious, and the same may be said of guilt.”

Jerry Garcia - Musician (The Grateful Dead)

“To get really high is to forget yourself. And to forget yourself is to see everything else. And to see everything else is to become an understanding molecule in evolution, a conscious tool of the universe.”

Timothy Leary - Psychologist

“You're only as young as the last time you changed your mind.”

“Learning how to operate a soul figures to take time.”

And finally… a classic and good one for when you need to check in with yourself and chill.
